Rise and Fall

Assyria began around 850 b.c. It was suceesful becuase of its large military and weaponry. It lasted till 650 bc when a combined army of Medes and Chaldeans and others burned and leveled nineveh, the capital of the empire. Ashbanipal proved to be one of the last of the mighty assyrian kings. Assyrian power had spead itself too thin. The cruelty by the Assyrians had also made them enemies. Shortly after the death of Ashburnipal, Nineveh fell. Mist people rejoiced in this destruction.

One thing that made Assyrian so sucessful is their Military. And theyre military was strong due to their advances in Iron Techonology. They had Metal helmets, shields, and weapons which made their army almost untouchable.

Major Events

Between 850 b.c and 650 b.c the kings of Assyria defeated Syria, Palestine, and Babylonia. Eventually they ruled lands all the way to the Fetile cresent into Anatolia and Egypt.

Also, iron making technology helped them greatly with weapon AND armor. They had iron suits and heklmets and swords and knives.

850 b.c is when Assyria acquired a large empire

They created their cap[ital citiy called Nineveh aliong the Tigris.

The biggest librairy in the world was created in Nineveh.;

Decription

Begginning around 850 b.c. Assyria aqured a large empire. The Assyian army advanced across Southeat Asia for more than two centuries. Its military was so strong it overwhelmed their foes.The Assyrians came from Mesopotamia, and becuase of their flat land, people were able to attrack them easily. Becuase of the costant warfare, the Assyrian kings built an empire that streched from east to north of the Tigris River all the way to Central Egypt. King Sebbacherib bragged about all the cities and villiages he had destryoed.
Assyria had insane military stength. Their Soldiers were well equipped for conquering an empire, making use of ironworking technology helped them with weapons and armor.Advance planning helped with to lay seige to enemy cities.
King Sennecherib was an example of a fearsome warrior.He had burned Babylon and also established Assyrias capital at Nineveh along the Tigris River. King Ashurbanipal collected more than 20,000 clay tablets from the Fertile Crsent for Nineveh's worlds largest Libriary.
