Rise and Fall

Assyria began around 850 b.c. It was suceesful becuase of its large military and weaponry. It lasted till 650 bc when a combined army of Medes and Chaldeans and others burned and leveled nineveh, the capital of the empire. Ashbanipal proved to be one of the last of the mighty assyrian kings. Assyrian power had spead itself too thin. The cruelty by the Assyrians had also made them enemies. Shortly after the death of Ashburnipal, Nineveh fell. Mist people rejoiced in this destruction.
